Cooking
I have always loved food, as well as learning about the history of cooking and how food brings us together. Inevitably, food has played a critical role throughout history; it can bring communities together or it can destroy us in a single poisoned stroke.
I have been introduced to cooking first by my lovely mother who loves home cooking. Then donkey year's later I was introduced to a carer called Isabel, wjo is a specialist occupational therapist who is teaching me how to cook. I am lucky because she is very long suffering and still sticks by me. She teaches me simple meals like cooking soup, stew, stir fry and of course omelettes. Cooking has always been a passion of mine it is just a joy creating food that's eatable.
Food is one of the joys of life and is about living life to the fullest. In one fell stroke food can cure you of the dreadful pang of hunger. In the next stroke it can give you a heart attack. The ancients always believed that moderation is the key to happiness, and even I am struggling to adapt to that ethos.
Dieting is a huge aspect of eating, otherwise it goes into chaos. For me and because of how I am, it is very important to diet well. Not just for yourself but also for your own self worth. Dieting and food are strongly linked together. People in the modern world have such strange dieting habits because modern life demands it.
I think when people are hungry they become more anxious, whilst if they are full they are happy. It is one of my main principles of life. I think that one of the biggest joys in life is eating. I think people underestimate a great meal it does a lot for you mental well being.
I have always been interested in the history of food; like chocolate was once a currency and the tea bag was created by accident (it's main purpose was for it to be used as a sample bag). I have a saying that the best stuff always happens by accident. In cooking there are lots of accidents which makes the recipes even better. I think that cooking food is one of the best joys in life.
I think that there are many ways in which people can view food, a lot of people struggle with dieting. I know that I do. It is a constant battle. The best way to think about dieting is to see it as a healthy way of life and not a diet. Dieting should not be a chore but a pleasure as one should want live a healthy lifestyle. It shows to other humans that you can look after your health. It symbolises that you can be healthy; it works both ways the diet and looking after oneself.
Food is such a critical way of having a healthy lifestyle, I have always loved my cooking. Cooking is a bit like chemistry when you are creating recipes. Learning recipes are difficult but when you have the right recipes, then you can cook like a head chef at a restaurant.
I love how varied cooking can be, it can be from any country one wants it to be. For me, I love simple meals. They are the ones that truly rock my boat. I think that every country has there own version of a varied simple meal. I have often believed that the key to a simple diet is to have simple meals.
There are dangers with loving food like I do (apparently I love food to much!) Who would ever have thought! food has proved to be the best pleasure in the world. It is so important to a healthy lifestyle that one can not simple take it for granted.
I think that sugar is dangerous to the human health, just as much as drugs. During the Second World war 120g sugar was allowed to be purchased per person per week as part of their rations. Well did you know that humans were born to crave sugar, and it must be resisted.
Sugar is the biggest problem that the modern world faces. It is in everywhere you look. I once went to the cinema and spent a small fortune on sweets. My hands were shaking throughout the film and I had enough energy to run a marathon. Then the crash afterwards was dreadful and I felt so sick. What a danger unnatural sugar is it should be more limited as its very much something you want to crave.
Overall my love of life is food. Food is the giver of life and it is the joy of my life. It is a great excuse to travel to eat different types of food. Some say that travel broadens the mind yet I think eating different food broadens the mind.
